What is the difference between blinnies and blintzes?

Blinis are yeasted buck-wheat pancakes (russian), mainly used for eating with cavair or salmon. Blintzes are cheese and/or fruit filled jewish crepes which are then panfried. I've added wiki's definition since they go further than my understanding usages for both for other cultures.
